Redmi Turbo 4: Design & Build

Redmi Turbo 4: Design & Build
Design
☑️ Double-stitching design;
☑️ Frosted soft fog glass;
☑️ Cyclone double ring light strip.

To give you a head start, the Redmi Turbo 4 has changed a lot since last year’s Redmi Turbo 3. And Xiaomi bravely took this initiative since their last successful popularity with the Redmi Note 13 series. Now with the Redmi Turbo 4, you get cool racing stripe design for the rear and triple colors, white with red stripe, shadow black and a shallow sea blue color.

Despite these color changes, Xiaomi also took initiative to change the rear camera design, instead of a separate circular design, this year Xiaomi brought the camera lens inside a pill-shaped design. Besides that you also get a cyclone double ring light strip, which shows message notifications, charging reminders lighting and even shows lighting while you play music. This change is really cool and stylish for those who love a unique design in their smartphone.

Build
☑️ 2.5D micro-arc frame;
☑️ IP68 Dust & water resistant.

Well, Xiaomi did not officially mention the back frame material. Though they did mention about 2.5D micro-arc frame quality in their official website. Which eventually gives you a really good hand feel. With its three-dimensional trimming you get a comfortable grip whenever you hold it in your hand.

There’s also improvement in the water resistant segment of the Redmi Turbo 4, instead of last year’s IP64, now you get a better version of it. Xiaomi literally gives you IP68 dust/water resistance for. Which is really good for in-depth water submersion for up to 2 meters for at least 30 minutes. This feature could be great for users who are always loving the adventure water parks photography with friends and families.

Redmi Turbo 4: Display

Redmi Turbo 4: Display
Display
☑️ AMOLED;.
☑️ 120Hz Refresh Rate;
☑️ Dolby Vision.

To give you a simple answer, despite greater peak brightness, there is no major improvement in the display section with the Turbo 4. While testing the display, the display of the Redmi Turbo 4 doesn’t really feel that AMOLED like other flagship devices does. Although due to the quality display features like HDR10+, and HDR Vivid support, you get good enough color accuracy while viewing your favorite contents.

There’s greater features to talk about right here. Well the screen size remained just the same as before, although Xiaomi did improve the overall brightness of the device from last year’s model.

There’s the same old 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 120Hz high refresh rate. And instead of last year’s 2400 peak brightness, now you get 3200 peak brightness. Giving you greater visibility compared to last year. You will also love the display’s contrast delivery from contents with Dolby vision. Making your content consumption experience truly astonishing.

Besides those fancy features, you are also getting DCI-P3 and 12-bit color depth, which ensures high-resolution movie watching much better compared to devices which don’t support these.

Redmi Turbo 4: Camera

Redmi Turbo 4: Camera
Camera
☑️ Rear: 50MP Wide | 8MP Ultrawide | 4K Recording;
☑️ Front: 20MP | 1080p;
☑️ Sony’s Large Aperture.

When it comes to the camera quality, it’s a mixed experience. Well at first I’m a little disappointed that Xiaomi still did not include a third lens. A telephoto or macro lens in this price range would have been appreciated.

Sadly you just have to deal with the two rear cameras just like the previous model. There’s a primary 50 megapixel wide lens with Sony’s LYT-600 sensor, providing good enough photos for the daylight. To give you a straight answer, the color depth is great and gives you nice wide shots.

As for the ultrawide lens, there is no major improvement compared to last year’s model. You are still left with a 8MP ultrawide lens. And while capturing the photos the result shows a bit cooler images compared to most other devices.

Thankfully, there is a similar 4K recording with the rear lens with gyro-EIS. While taking videos, the sharpness seems okay, but the shaky moments are not properly controlled. Do remember to carry a gimbal along with you.

In terms of nighttime photography, I’ve seen some pretty awkward moments as well. Photos are sharp and colors are good, but the highlight controlling with the software during capturing those gorgeous supermarket photos showed a bit unbalanced. Hopefully Xiaomi will fix it in the upcoming software updates.

And as before, Redmi Turbo 4 camera with similar 20MP front camera with 1080p recording. Now it’s not bad, though the primary question arises: who wants a new smartphone with previous generation recording features? Xiaomi could have upgraded this portion here for the sake of selfie and vlog lovers.

Redmi Turbo 4: Performance

Redmi Turbo 4: Performance
Performance
☑️ Dimensity 8400 Ultra;
☑️ Up to 16GB RAM | 512GB;
☑️ Mali G720 MC7;
☑️ Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth v6.0

Let’s talk about the overall performance of the Turbo 4, now there is a major shift from last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 to now with a Mediatek Dimensity 8400 Ultra chip. This is also a 4-nanometer architecture chip with up to 3.25Ghz processing power.

As per Xiaomi’s official sources, you get around 1,864,199 Antutu benchmark test score. Which is really good, and close to flagship devices at least. Giving you greater performance in terms of multitasking and high-resolution video rendering directly from your phone.

This new chip is equipped with a new energy-efficient large core Arm Cortex-A72. Giving you octa-core processing. While the single core did not perform up to the mark, still when all the cores performed at the same time, you really get a good result for handling multiple apps at the same time.

Gaming with Redmi Turbo 4

There is a Mali-G720 MC7 GPU inside the Turbo 4, well it’s not close to the previous Adreno 735 seen on the Turbo 3, but still delivers appreciable performance. Handling games like Genshin Impact and even Pubg Mobile showed smooth performance.

Device seemed a little hot at start but it cooled down in just a few minutes. As you get a high performance bi-wing graphite inside the phone which gives you 10% better cooling performance compared to last year’s model.

There’s also AI enhancement while gaming with the Turbo 4, giving you large-scale RPG AI strategy creation and even active guidance while playing games. This small improvement can be ideal for users who are always looking for tips and suggestions while they play their favorite games.

Running more popular games like “Mobile Legends” or even Fortnite Mobile gives you smooth performance, thanks to LPDDR5X RAM on board and fast UFS 4.0 storage system.

Redmi Turbo 4: Software & UI

Redmi Turbo 4: Software & UI
Software
☑️ Android 15
☑️ Xiaomi HyperOS 2

Just like last year’s model, Xiaomi did included the same HyperOS inside the Turbo 4, but with a updated model. This time you get the HyperOS 2 on top of the Android 15.

This time the HyperOS 2 gives you better graphical rendering efficiency. There’s also “Fury Engine”, which makes sure you get greater optimization in terms of performance and mainstream gaming at a lower power.

Moreover, get better editing ability with customizable lock screen and new animation while unlocking the phone. Realistic atmospheric experience while you dive into the “3D real-time” dynamic weather system app. Unified app ecosystem brings you “Home screen+ 2.0” you seamlessly use apps across multiple Xiaomi devices.

With the power of HyperOS 2, now you can link your Xiaomi phone with any Windows PC with the “Link to Windows” feature. Either it’s your laptop or personal computer, get easy connectivity and share contents or transfer contents in just a click away.

Redmi Turbo 4: Battery Life

Redmi Turbo 4: Battery Life
Battery
☑️ 6550mAh;
☑️ 90W Wired | Type-C

Here’s a portion no one doesn’t want to ignore, which is the battery. Well, Xiaomi made a huge improvement compared to last year’s model with an upgraded power inside this new Redmi Turbo 4.

This time you get a 6550mAh battery inside the Redmi Turbo 4, which is around 31% development compared to last year’s 5000mAh seen on the Turbo 3. And it’s a huge leap from Xiaomi to include this much power.

Making sure you get your productivity done for a longer period of time. Watching a few episodes of the newly released “Squid Game 2” took almost 28% of the battery from a full charge. Which is really great, thanks to the upgraded battery backup inside.

While the charging speed remained the same as 90W wired charging with Type-C. Which is alright as you are already getting a full charge in under an hour of time spending.
